About the role
Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Referral Specialist to support the coordination, scheduling, and follow-up of patient referrals generated by primary care providers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Process and schedule patient referrals in a timely manner based on urgency
- Track and follow up on referrals to ensure completion and compliance
- Maintain accurate referral logs and documentation in the EHR
- Collaborate with providers, case managers, and external partners on referral coordination
- Verify patient eligibility and assist with referral-related documentation
- Communicate referral status updates to providers and care teams
- Aid patients with referral education and next steps
- Assist with urgent referrals and department calls as needed
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- A minimum of 1 year of referral, patient access, or healthcare administrative experience is required
- Previous medical front desk or insurance verification experience is preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A high attention to detail and organization
- The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office
- The ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
