Referral Specialist

About the role

A full-time Medical Referral Specialist position is available at Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. (CIFC). The role focuses on coordinating referrals and authorizations with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure patients receive necessary care and assistance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals and authorizations with healthcare providers and insurance companies
• Communicate with patients and families to explain the referral process and answer questions
• Verify patient insurance coverage and ensure accurate entry of information into the system
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and appropriate patient care
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient referrals and authorizations
• Build and maintain relationships with regional specialty offices
• Execute referral protocols and documentation accurately and on time

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred)
• 2+ years of experience working in a healthcare setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with computer systems and software, including electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office Suite
