Referral Specialist
About the Role
The Referral Specialist coordinates and facilitates patient referrals, specialty services, authorizations, and pre-certifications. This position verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, ensures patients are appropriately cleared for referred services, and coordinates with patients, providers, insurance companies, hospitals, and other referral partners to support timely access to care. The Referral Specialist maintains accurate referral documentation, communicates referral and appointment information, follows up on outstanding items, and assists patients and clinical staff with the administrative requirements of the referral process. This role also provides general administrative support, maintains a professional and patient-centered environment, and ensures referral activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate patient referrals, specialty services, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Ensure patients are appropriately cleared for referred services.
- Coordinate with patients, providers, insurance companies, hospitals, and other referral partners.
- Maintain accurate referral documentation.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- One (1) year of practice experience in a clinical office setting (preferred).
- Licensed Vocational Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant (preferred).
- Spanish speaking and writing skills (preferred).
