Referral and Intake Specialist
About the role
Be the First Step in Someone’s Care RFS Behavioral Health is seeking an organized, compassionate, and customer-focused Intake Specialist to join our team. The Intake Specialist plays an important role in helping clients move from their initial referral to receiving behavioral health services. You’ll help coordinate the intake process, collect essential information, verify Medicaid coverage, coordinate assessments, and make sure time-sensitive documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. If you’re someone who enjoys helping people, staying organized, communicating with multiple team members, and keeping processes moving, this could be a great opportunity to grow within behavioral healthcare.
You’ll be part of a behavioral health organization where your work directly supports the client experience. Although this isn't a direct-care position, your work helps determine how quickly and smoothly someone gets connected to the services they need. This is a primarily office-based position and works closely with agency leadership and members of the clinical team.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and help expedite the intake process from referral through treatment
- Collect demographic and other required client information
- Communicate with therapists, case managers, and other team members
- Assign and follow up on client assessments
- Complete Medicaid verification
- Help streamline intake documentation and processes
- Monitor time
