Reference Librarian (PT)

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Reference Librarian for the Utica Campus Library.

Responsibilities

• Provides general reference services in person and online
• Provides excellent customer service: welcome patrons, enforce library policies, assist in opening and closing the library as needed
• Conducts instructional sessions as part of the library’s information literacy program
• Provides computer-related assistance to patrons in library lab areas
• Assists with the creation of research guides and online tutorials in support of library instruction and other library services
• Oversees library facilities and ensure smooth operations at assigned campus location
• Contributes to special projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of College Libraries

Schedule

Possible shifts include Monday through Thursday, 4:00pm–9:00pm; Friday, 10:00am–3:00pm; and Sunday, 2:00pm–7:00pm. This is an academic-year position, working during the Fall and Spring semesters. Hours per week: 10–20.

Qualifications

Required

• Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited program, or anticipated completion by December 2026
• Service-oriented, reliable, and flexible
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work independently

Preferred

• Academic library experience
• Knowledge of emerging technologies
• Experience working with a diverse population
