Referee

General Purpose

Under the supervision and guidance of the Athletic Coordinator, the Youth Basketball Referee is responsible for officiating youth basketball games for Boys & Girls Clubs Sonoma – Marin.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Must have familiarity with the rules of basketball
• Be able to communicate with Coaches to get games started promptly
• Ability to run for extended amounts of time
• Must be able to communicate schedule conflicts with supervisor
• Able to remain calm in a stressful competitive atmosphere
• Display strong “on court” presence
• Be confident in verbal and hand‑gesture calls

Requirements

• Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
• Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills
• Ability to jog, run, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Ability to climb, push, and pull
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds
• Applicants must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation
