About the role
Reeves Construction Company, a Colas USA subsidiary operating throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, and Arkansas, is seeking an experienced Asphalt Distributor / Tack Truck Driver for our Columbia, SC location. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Responsibilities
- Operate the tack truck.
- Assist the crew with shoveling and other tasks when the tack truck is not in use.
- Maintain and clean the truck.
- Heat tank prior to starting work.
- Apply tack on roads within specifications.
- Set string line on edges of the road if needed.
- Work nights and weekends as required.
- Drive in a safe and consistent manner.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or B CDL with Tanker Endorsement and a good driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Reeves Construction Company safety regulations.
- High school education, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in and around construction equipment.
- One or more years of experience in a similar field.
- Ability to lift 45 pounds.
Physical Demands
- Climb onto and down from machinery several times a day.
- Sit in and operate machinery for several hours without stopping.
- Withstand vibration and noise from job site conditions and equipment.
- Use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
- Perform manual duties, such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
- Frequently required to stand and walk; occasionally required to sit.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (20/40 vision, naturally or with corrective lenses).
- Excellent hearing or corrected by audio device.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Very loud noise levels in the work environment.
