About the role

Reeves Construction Company, a Colas USA subsidiary operating throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, and Arkansas, is seeking an experienced Asphalt Distributor / Tack Truck Driver for our Columbia, SC location. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the tack truck.
  • Assist the crew with shoveling and other tasks when the tack truck is not in use.
  • Maintain and clean the truck.
  • Heat tank prior to starting work.
  • Apply tack on roads within specifications.
  • Set string line on edges of the road if needed.
  • Work nights and weekends as required.
  • Drive in a safe and consistent manner.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B CDL with Tanker Endorsement and a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Reeves Construction Company safety regulations.
  • High school education, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working in and around construction equipment.
  • One or more years of experience in a similar field.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds.

Physical Demands

  • Climb onto and down from machinery several times a day.
  • Sit in and operate machinery for several hours without stopping.
  • Withstand vibration and noise from job site conditions and equipment.
  • Use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
  • Perform manual duties, such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk; occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (20/40 vision, naturally or with corrective lenses).
  • Excellent hearing or corrected by audio device.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Very loud noise levels in the work environment.
