Position Summary
The Recycling Technician is a key member of Securis' growing Recycling Operations team, responsible for the secure processing of retired electronic equipment both in our Chantilly warehouse and at customer locations throughout the United States.
This hands-on position includes electronic disassembly, secure material handling, hard drive shredding, inventory tracking, and preparing materials for resale or responsible recycling. When not traveling to customer sites (typically up to one week per month), Recycling Technicians work in our Chantilly warehouse supporting daily recycling operations.
What You'll Do
- Receive, sort, and process computers, servers, hard drives, and other electronic equipment
- Manually disassemble electronic equipment and separate materials for recycling or resale
- Operate hard drive shredders, tape degaussers, balers, industrial scales, and other recycling equipment
- Scan and accurately track inventory using Securis' proprietary inventory management system
- Prepare, package, and ship customer orders and recycled materials
- Load and unload trucks and move materials throughout the warehouse using pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment
- Maintain secure chain-of-custody procedures while handling customer assets and ensure all physical security protocols are followed
- Perform routine inspections of warehouse tools and equipment and report maintenance or repair needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
- Participate in weekly operations meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Travel to customer locations (typically up to one week per month) to perform secure electronics recycling and data destruction services
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- High school diploma or GED
- One to two years of warehouse, manufacturing, production, logistics, recycling, or related hands-on experience
- Ability to safely lift at least 60+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work for extended periods
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight for customer projects (typically up to one week per month)
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory management systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures
- Reliable attendance, positive attitude, and willingness to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating industrial equipment such as balers, shredders, pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar warehouse machinery
- Forklift certification
- Familiarity with IT hardware, electronics, or computer components
- Experience using inventory management software or Salesforce
- Experience working in electronics recycling, manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environments
