Responsibilities
- Plans, assigns, supervises, trains, and evaluates work of assigned recycle workers, provides technical expertise to staff, and helps establish work goals and objectives.
- Reviews, develops, and modifies crew schedules and routes in assigned areas, and determines work priorities for crew members.
- Safeguards trash dumpsters, roll-offs, and compactors from unauthorized access and ensures they are emptied by the trash contractor and that trash compactors are operating correctly.
- Oversees the storage and transportation of confidential material, pallets, metal, batteries, and light bulbs collected throughout the University.
- Manages waste management activities for special events and waste requests on campus.
- Supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic, and patient care programs.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Four years of experience in material management, operations/logistics, hospitality/service industry, or related field. Experience inclusive of a supervisory role or demonstrated responsibilities leading others.

Physical Demands
- Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs.
- The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
Pay
The anticipated hiring range is $24.00–$28.00, commensurate with experience.
