About the Role
In this role, you will take full ownership of the recruiting process, working closely with engineering leadership to identify and attract top civil engineering talent within a specific territory or sector. You will develop strategic sourcing and hiring plans to fill key roles such as structural engineers, project managers, CAD technicians, and field engineers. By leveraging industry knowledge and strong relationships within the AEC community, you will proactively source candidates, support geographic expansion efforts, and build a robust talent pipeline aligned with upcoming projects. You’ll also conduct thorough candidate assessments, recommend recruiting strategies, and provide guidance to engineering managers to ensure effective and consistent hiring decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full-cycle recruiting process in collaboration with engineering leadership, managing requisitions from intake through offer within an assigned territory or sector.
- Partner with engineering leaders and hiring managers to understand detailed hiring needs and develop sourcing and recruitment plans that attract top civil engineering professionals.
- Source and engage both active and passive candidates by leveraging industry-specific sourcing techniques, networking, and building strong relationships within the AEC community.
- Utilize recruiting platforms and tools such as UKG, Indeed, LinkedIn Recruiter, and other sourcing technologies to identify, engage, and manage top talent.
- Support expansion efforts by promoting open roles and building robust talent pipelines that align with future demands.
- Conduct thorough interviews evaluating candidates’ technical skills, project experience (including site design, roadway design, drainage, permitting), and cultural fit with the company and specific teams.
- Recommend and implement innovative recruiting strategies tailored to civil engineering roles, contributing to company growth and continuous improvement of hiring processes.
- Develop and advise on recruitment plans, including deliverables, timelines, and tracking systems to ensure efficient and successful hires across multiple active requisitions.
- Provide training and guidance to engineering managers on interview techniques, candidate assessment, and talent selection to promote consistency and quality in hiring decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources or related majors).
- 2+ years of high-volume recruiting experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple requisitions with varying requirements and hiring timelines.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel and work outside of office hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of project management experience.
- Experience in recruiting civil engineering talent.
