About the role
The Recreational Therapist (NS) position at the Walter B. Jones Center focuses on planning, implementing, and evaluating quality recreational therapy (RT) treatment programs for adults with co-occurring diagnoses. Responsibilities include providing non-medical diagnostic services, rehabilitative treatment, and developing individualized treatment plans.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement quality recreational therapy treatment programs for adults with co-occurring diagnoses.
- Provide non-medical diagnostic services and rehabilitative treatment for each patient referred with appropriate documentation of patient progress.
- Act as the Recreational Therapy representative to the assigned unit and collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and implement interventions to enhance life skills and function of referred patients.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice recreational therapy by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy.
- Knowledge of human structures, physiology, and life-cycle growth and development.
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and their implications for Recreational Therapy services.
- Knowledge of psychological functioning, pathology, cognitive learning, and motor learning.
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined above, along with the ability to complete CPR and CPI certifications.
Skills

Benefits
The Walter B. Jones Center offers a competitive compensation package, including a recruitment range of $41,407.00 - $62,111.00 per year, based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
Pay
The starting salary for this position is $41,407.00 annually, with potential for negotiation based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The Walter B. Jones Center operates on a standard Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional weekend and evening hours as needed.
