Recreational Gymnastics Instructor - Morgan Park Sports Center

About the role

The Gymnastics Instructor provides group gymnastics instruction, monitors, and educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants. Reporting to the Gymnastics Coordinator, this position requires flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Instructs scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time
• Provides adequate and effective gymnastics skills and lessons
• Instructs patrons on appropriate gymnastics methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises as needed
• Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class
• Aids patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive gymnastics experience for members and class participants
• Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs
• Ensures that safety standards are met, and department and facility policies are adhered to
• Implements and regulates the facilities’ policies and procedures
• Performs other related duties as required by Gymnastics Coordinator and Facility Manager

Qualifications

• Current Red Cross CPR certification
• Certified Instructor (USAG) or equivalent
• Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles
• Working knowledge of gymnastics teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, technique, and rhythm
• Previous gymnastics/tumbling/trampoline teaching or coaching experience
• Professional demeanor and ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members
• Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member

Physical Demands

• Frequent walking, standing, sitting for long hours
• Frequent lifting and/or spotting up to 50 pounds
• Occasional assistance or aid to participants

Hours

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $20.50
