About the role

Conducts therapeutic recreational activities under the direction of the Activity Therapist, within the program to facilitate rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled.

Directs patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, to provide a means of creative expression and to facilitate the learning skills for recreating during hospitalization and after discharge in the community.

Cultivates an environment that allows the patient to explore their own potential, cultivate positive morale and minimize distress of illness.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Activity, Recreational therapy or other related field.
  • Recreational Therapy Assistant (RTA) or Activity Therapy Assistant Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative or SNF setting preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Activity, Recreational therapy or other related field.
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative or SNF setting preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to work effectively with patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic recreational activities.
  • Ability to create a supportive and encouraging environment.

  • 24 hours per week.
  • Shifts from 300 to 930 pm with a day rotation.
