Recreation Specialist (Part-Time, Without Benefits) (A263125-3), 201, Recreation Centers

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Organizes, supervises, and monitors activities conducted in the recreation center.
• Maintains cleanliness of recreation center; cleans and sanitizes assigned areas.
• Takes payments or deposits for facility use.
• Monitors the recreation center and gymnasium.

Knowledge & Competencies

• Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software.
• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Knowledge of proper use of cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of recreation center programs and events.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time.
• Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
• Frequent exposure to loud noises (85+ decibels such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, construction).

Work Environment

• Office or similar indoor environment.
• Occasional outside work.
• Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals or substances.
• Travel (local).

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
• Less than 1 year experience in recreational program or camp counseling, working with children, recreation programs, or related experience.
• Valid Texas Driver License.
• Valid Infant, Child, & Adult CPR certification.
• Valid First Aid certification.
