About the Role
Organize and supervise on- and off-center student recreation activities. Students have enjoyed events such as:
- Goat Yoga
- Paintball
- Arts and Crafts
- Weight and Cardio Workouts
- Gaming
- Hiking
- Basketball
- Table Tennis
- Women's Self-Defense Classes and focused workout sessions
- Freestyle Rap Groups and Poetry Sessions
We are looking for someone enthusiastic and driven to provide new, fresh, stimulating, and exciting ideas for recreational activities, sporting and educational events, health and wellness initiatives, and more.
Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise off-center and on-center recreation activities for students
- Provide new, fresh, stimulating, and exciting ideas for recreational activities, sporting and educational events, health and wellness initiatives, etc.
- Guide students to make informed lifestyle choices concerning fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles
- Prepare schedules and calendars for all recreational activities
- Coordinate student field trips
- Maintain recreation facilities, equipment, and materials to center standards
- Track and record program attendance
- Order and maintain recreational equipment, supplies, and materials
- Provide transportation of students to and from center-sponsored events
- Recognize and reinforce students' positive behavior
Schedule
Three shift options available:
- Shift #1: Tuesday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Wednesday 10:00 am–7:00 pm, Thursday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Friday 3:00 pm–12:00 am, Saturday 10:00 am–7:00 pm (Sunday, Monday off)
- Shift #2: Sunday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Monday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Tuesday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Wednesday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Saturday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm (Thursday, Friday off)
- Shift #3: Tuesday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Wednesday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Thursday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Friday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm, Saturday 3:00 pm–12:00 am (Sunday, Monday off)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 year of experience working with youth
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Must obtain a CDL Class B Driver’s License with passenger endorsement within three months of hire (training provided)
- Water Safety Certification preferred; must acquire if not already held
Skills
- Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate recreation programs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of operational practices and principles of recreation programs
- Proficient in rules and regulations of common sports and games
- Knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Proficient in common computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
