RECREATION SERVICES LEADER (Recurrent)
About the role
The Recreation Services Leaders play a crucial role in our recreation team. They assist our Recreation Staff with organized sports, special programs, and classes ranging from aerobics to Teen Clubs. Responsibilities
- Covers the presentation of programs such as arts and crafts, dance, music, and theater arts.
- Aids in the development and presentation of special recreation programs for senior citizens, youths, and people with disabilities.
- Coordinates park club activities and helps develop park holiday programs like Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.
- Plans and coordinates playground and community center athletic activities including tournaments, leagues, and contests.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining safety, cleanliness, and order at park facilities; monitors activities and ensures safety rules are observed.
- Assists in preparing athletic fields for tournaments and leagues.
- Assists with routine clerical duties such as the preparation of use permits and reports, fee collection and reporting, and program scheduling.
- Assists in handling public complaints.
- Provides direction to temporary or seasonal staff, as needed.
Requirements
- 240 hours of experience instructing, conducting, or planning recreational programs in arts & crafts, dance, music, or outdoor recreation in nature, outdoor games, outdoor sports.
- OR 100 hours of experience as a Park Aide, NC in the Department of Parks and Recreation.
- OR Completion of 120 hours of work experience through the Department of Human Resources/Youth@Work Countywide Youth Bridges Program (CYBP) with the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation.
- OR with Los Angeles County Library.
- Applicants who qualify under this option must submit a CYBP certificate of completion.
- Must be 16 years of age or older at time of appointment.
- All minors under the age of 18 must have a work permit at time of appointment.
- A valid California Class C Drivers License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Qualifications

Pay
The pay range for this position is $18.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
