Recreation Programmer

About the role

The Town of Marana is seeking a Recreation Programmer to work in the Parks & Recreation department with a specialty in customer service and facility front desk oversight. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Assists with facility operations, maintenance and day-to-day functions to include (but not limited to) taking reservations, selling membership passes, and selling daily passes.
• Communicates and upholds department policies related to transactions, including program and membership cancellations and refunds.
• Ensures facilities and equipment are safe, clean and arranged to meet the requirements of scheduled programs, activities and events.
• Performs on-site program inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with program and safety policies and procedures.
• Aids in the planning, coordination, promotion, implementation, and lead of recreational activities in the specialty program areas of the Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center.
• Prepares and executes advertisement and promotional plans for programs and facilities.
• Aids in the purchasing of necessary equipment and supplies.
• Plans and organizes the distribution, care, use and maintenance of supplies and equipment for assigned programs and facilities.
• Documents and maintains records and reports on data pertaining to programs, activities, events and facilities.
• Aids in the preparation of social media announcements, bulletins and promotional materials including news releases, flyers, pamphlets, and brochures.
• Attends meetings and acts as the department liaison when necessary.
• Plans, coordinates and staffs department outreach activities.
• Aids in other recreation specialty program areas as needed.
• May lead and teach a variety of recreational activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
• Over one (1) year experience performing recreation programming duties.
• Valid Arizona Driver License.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test.
• Pass the Town of Marana background check, and a motor vehicle records check.
• Must pass fingerprint clearance background check.

Qualifications

• Current First Aid, AED and CPR certifications (required within 6 months).
