Work Hours

Duties are conducted 40 hours per week with varying hours.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Counsels and organizes group recreation and nature programs for the public.
  • Develops, researches, and organizes topical information and props for week-long or half-day programs and camps.
  • Assists with daily care of permanent or rehabilitated wildlife at Critter Cove, including maintaining clean and healthy living environments, providing appropriate food and water, and assisting with animal care.
  • Provides recreational, natural, and cultural history information to other staff and volunteers.
  • Researches and designs age and space-appropriate, seasonal, and permanent displays for Critter Cove, including creating brochures, trail maps, and other handouts.
  • Answers questions from the general public and distributes park/program information.
  • Cares for program animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 24 months of experience developing, planning, and/or organizing leisure activities for the general public
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License

Supplemental Information

  • Unusual Working Conditions: Predictable and regular attendance is required. Travel may be required. Exposure to various working conditions such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Exposure to exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Exposure to outdoor conditions including exposure to weather, venomous reptiles or infectious animal bites, and unpleasant odors. Overnight travel may be required.
  • Benefits: Full-time permanent and some part-time permanent Greene County employees are eligible for a wide variety of benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness program, employee assistance program, and deferred compensation plans. The County pays 80% of the health care premium and 39% of the dental premium. All full-time employees are eligible for $50,000 group life insurance paid 100% by the County. Non-permanent, seasonal, intermittent, part-time scheduled for less than 60 hours per pay period, and external interim employees are not benefit eligible.
