Recreation/Music Therapist - PRN

About the role

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic and evidence-based Recreational Therapy services to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural needs of patients. This position involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supporting patients in their mental health journey. The Recreational Therapist strives to build a strong therapeutic alliance through empathetic and continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling.

• Conduct assessments and facilitate RT group interventions
• Document progress and discharge planning for assigned patients

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy, humanities, social work, or related therapeutic discipline
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience; knowledge and understanding of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness preferred
• Current national certification (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
• Current license (TRS) through Utah Department of Professional Licensing
• CPR certification
• Successful completion of training for restraints and seclusions (required prior to assisting in any patient restraints or seclusions and within 90 days of employment)
