On‑site: Texas Sports Academy, Lake Travis (Austin), TX

About the Role

This position owns the operational layer of a student‑athlete’s day. You ensure the academic block starts on time, materials and equipment are ready, and students stay on task. After the academic block you turn the room over for afternoon training and athlete‑development workshops, maintaining tight schedules and applying TSA‑approved motivational techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student‑athlete transitions between the academic block, training sessions, and workshops (≈30% of time): monitor the clock, prompt students to move, and use positive reinforcement to keep movement orderly.
  • Prepare session materials before each block by gathering academic supplies, workshop materials, and training equipment, organizing them per the plan, and confirming setup matches the Coach’s instructions.
  • Facilitate student‑athlete engagement during the two‑hour academic block and afternoon training (≈40% of time): monitor participation, identify disengagement early, and redirect students using TSA‑approved techniques without interrupting instruction.
  • Maintain an active presence throughout the school day, making real‑time decisions to keep sessions running smoothly.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Waiting passively at the edge of the room for something to go wrong.
  • Coaching athletes, programming training, or running drills (the training plan belongs to the Coaches and partner trainers).
  • Designing lessons, writing activity plans, or being accountable for academic outcomes (the Coach’s responsibility).
  • Inventing your own approach to student behavior; you will apply TSA’s defined motivational techniques consistently.
  • Managing facility tasks, carpool logistics, or after‑hours events; your scope is session operations during the school day.

Basic Requirements

  • Willing to work in person at the Lake Travis (Austin), TX campus.
  • Minimum 15 hours per week with flexibility to choose schedule during school hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM). Option for full‑time position.
  • Professional or volunteer experience coaching kids (athletics, debate, chess, camp counseling, or similar).
  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 in a structured setting (school, camp, childcare, tutoring, or coaching).
  • Ability to coordinate people, materials, and activities quickly and effectively.
  • Kid‑friendly and comfortable redirecting children using encouragement.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Nice‑to‑Have Requirements

  • Hands‑on group management experience with kids in motion (youth sports coach, assistant coach, team manager, camp counselor, classroom aide, or after‑school program staff).
  • Comfort working in gyms, on fields, or in training facilities as well as classrooms.
  • Experience in a mastery‑based, competency‑based, or structured learning program.
  • Track record of keeping groups on schedule using positive redirection rather than escalating to adult intervention.
