About the role
The Recreation Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading therapeutic recreational activities in a skilled nursing facility to enhance residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. They collaborate with nursing staff, therapy teams, and families to ensure activities align with individual care plans and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise group and one-on-one recreational activities
- Adapt programs to meet residents' needs and abilities
- Ensure safety during all activities
- Document resident participation and engagement
- Promote resident engagement and socialization
Qualifications
- High school diploma (preferred coursework in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related fields)
- Experience in long-term care or senior services
- Knowledge of dementia care
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Compassion, patience, adaptability, and a resident-centered approach
- Good judgment and cooperation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or holidays
Preference is given to those with geriatric experience and a desire to work with elderly and chronically ill populations.
Vaccination is encouraged but not mandated.
