Position Summary

Plan and implement recreational activities to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, as well as individualized needs and interests of the residents helping them gain greater independence by applying the five Chrysalis Values: Respect, Safety, Fun, Mentoring, and Accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with the Director, Associate Directors, Managers, and outside parties.
  • Plan appropriate activities for the individuals.
  • Plan and coordinate quarterly area wide activities.
  • Plan and implement monthly recreation nights.
  • Recognize individuals' birthdays and coordinate with Special Olympics.
  • Create opportunities for people to increase their quality of life by networking with the community to provide free or low-cost activities.
  • Maintain activity calendar.
  • Keep within budget restraints.
  • Transport individuals.
  • Support the individual's choices.
  • Provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
  • Supervise individuals according to the Supervision Guidelines.
  • Follow Behavioral Plans.
  • Assist and supervise individuals with taking the appropriate medication.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks within established time frames.
  • Complete all documentation required by Chrysalis and the State.
  • Maintain communication with Managers regarding the individual's needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Meet the Chrysalis Driving Policy Standards.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk; sit; talk and/or hear; use hands to feel, and handle objects; reach with arms, bend over, and stoop.
    • Occasionally the employee may be required to restrain an individual, and lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
    • The employee may be exposed to various environments including, but not limited to the following: aggressive individuals, may come into contact with blood and/or saliva, and other OPIM.
