Recreation Assistant (Lead Lifeguard) NF-02
This position is located at Oasis Pool - Fort Irwin, California. Oasis offers safe, fun, and healthy ways to enjoy the water. We operate indoor pools year-round and outdoor pools during the summer season.
About the role
This is an open continuous announcement. All qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a weekly or as-needed basis. This job is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation are also eligible.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation of the pool, oversee the work of assigned lifeguards, and monitor compliance with facility policies.
- Responsible for lifeguarding guests at the assigned aquatic facility.
- Assist in coaching or preparing competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
- Assist with scheduling of employees.
- Operate the pool’s filtration system, maintain water balance, pool chemistry, and perform water tests.
- Tactfully warn patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
- Provide information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures.
- Responsible for safeguarding and protection of funds, property, and personnel.
- Rescue swimmers and administer first aid as required.
- May be assigned to irregular duties or special recreational events.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
- Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
- Must complete a pre-employment physical.
Qualifications

- American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent (e.g., Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).
- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (e.g., Ellis & Associates CPR Certification).
- American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (e.g., Ellis & Associates AED certification).
