Recreation Aid (Trainee-Lifeguard) NF-01.

This position works under close supervision with work closely reviewed and detailed guidance provided.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all required training, including emergency rescue drills and emergency action plan simulations.
  • Complete mandatory certifications within 30 calendar days of employment to be reassigned to lifeguard duties at an aquatic facility.
  • Obtain certifications in:
    • Lifeguarding (American Red Cross or equivalent such as Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
    • First Aid (American Red Cross or equivalent)
    • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
  • For Water Parks, upgrade certification to Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED (American Red Cross).
  • Assist in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training.
  • For facilities using Oxygen Administration, obtain certification within two weeks of reporting for duty (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or equivalent, such as Fire Department training).

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Meet all qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Failure to complete required certifications will result in removal from employment.
  • Subject to a Tier 1 background investigation and additional checks if working with children.
  • Must have a current health assessment documenting good physical health and freedom from communicable disease per Army policy.
  • Obtain and maintain the following certifications within 30 days:
    • Lifeguarding
    • First Aid
    • CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency
  • For facilities using Oxygen Administration, obtain certification within two weeks of reporting for duty.
  • All certifications must be kept current.
  • Continuous exposure to sun, high temperatures, and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within 24 hours.
  • Must have good vision (corrected if necessary) to effectively recognize emergencies, incidents, and rule violations.
  • May be assigned irregular duties or special recreational events.

Schedule

  • Work hours are Thursday through Monday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • May involve weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Must be able to swim and participate in lifeguard certifications.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

  • Open to candidates within the local commuting area of Fort Carson, including Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
  • Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license/ID or an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL).
