Recovery Supportive Transportation Driver

About the role

GAAMHA is seeking a Recovery Supportive Transportation (RST) Driver to provide safe, reliable rides while offering peer support and encouragement to individuals in recovery.

Responsibilities

• Transport participants to and from recovery-related services, appointments, and community activities while ensuring dignity and safety.
• Offer peer-based recovery support and coaching during transit, building trust, compassion, and hope.
• Assist riders with mobility needs (wheelchairs, seat belts, accessibility).
• Use lived experience to inspire confidence and show recovery is possible through multiple pathways.
• Connect participants to community supports and networks.
• Accurately complete mileage logs, timesheets, vehicle checklists, and participant notes.
• Respond quickly to emergencies or unusual situations following GAAMHA’s protocols.
• Attend trainings, team meetings, and supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
• Lived experience in recovery with 1 year of sustained sobriety
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a mobile phone
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Completion of CCAR Recovery Coach Academy & Ethics training (preferred)

Qualifications

• All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen, CORI, and fingerprinting (fees covered by GAAMHA).

Schedule

Monday through Thursday 2:00pm-6:00pm, Friday 12:00pm-4:00pm
