Recovery Support Specialist

This position provides support to patients of Residential Treatment Facilities throughout their treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete hourly (or specialized) observation checks on assigned patients and record the proper location number in the correct time slot.
  • Complete EMR notes during the proper shift in a clear and timely manner; do not leave assigned patient unless absolutely necessary.
  • Ensure patients act appropriately and respectfully during groups and do not leave for unexcused reasons; remove names from attendance sheets if they leave early unless an exception applies.
  • Monitor patients signing into group meetings, ensure sign-in sheets are copied for the facilitator, and file the original in the Recovery Support Specialist office.
  • Complete daily room checks and room searches when requested by the Director of Operations, medical or clinical staff, or for safety reasons.
  • Conduct bag searches upon new patient admissions.
  • Review the patient handbook and orient patients to the program.
  • Perform daily room searches for detox patients.
  • Process intakes and discharges, including all associated paperwork.
  • Transport patients to the hospital and stay with them during their visit.
  • Monitor all residential and detox phone calls and record them in the call logbook.
  • Stock the supply closet.
  • Provide educational and support groups for patients.
  • Assist with transporting patients to ER, outside appointments, and off-site activities.
  • For concierge care assignments: assist with crisis intervention, engage with the community to promote positive interactions, reduce AMA risks, and support patients struggling with treatment engagement by helping them attend groups, meetings, and campus activities while removing barriers to treatment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a multi-cultural, community-based organization.
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the Agency’s mission and culture, with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients.
  • Previous experience working with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Employment contingent upon clear UDS and criminal history record.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance meeting or exceeding state minimum requirements.
  • Initial and ongoing MVR verification; must maintain an acceptable driving record per BayMark’s policy F&A-115.
  • Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
  • Satisfactory drug screening and criminal background check.
