Role Overview
The Recovery Coach supports individuals on their journey of recovery from substance use disorders by providing peer-based support, developing personalized recovery plans, and connecting participants with community resources. This role involves offering encouragement, advocacy, education, and skill-building to empower participants and foster their independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one peer support, goal setting, and motivation.
- Aid in resource navigation for treatment, housing, employment, and healthcare.
- Advocate for participants within systems to ensure access to support.
- Provide education on recovery strategies and facilitate workshops.
- Collaborate with team members and participate in training.
- Maintain confidential records and report on participant outcomes.
- Stay informed about community trends and support special projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; lived experience in recovery preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of substance use disorders and recovery principles.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Additional certifications in peer support are advantageous.
- Must meet specific incarceration history and sobriety requirements.
Work Environment
- Full-time role involving work in office and correctional facilities, with travel between sites and occasional evening or weekend hours.
- Some training and events may require travel.
