Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Base Hourly: $17.78 Class/Calendar: A13, 12 months Benefits: Vacation, sick leave, holidays, retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurance Performance Pay: Available annually New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position Job Summary: To establish and maintain special education student records; to ensure the accuracy and availability of data to provide documentation for dissemination of information to appropriate parties; and to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Key Responsibilities: Record and maintain central office records for special education programs on Synergy and OnBaseCoordinate all registration activities (entering, dropping, changes, etc) with schoolsProcess incoming and outgoing requests of special education records from appropriate partiesProcess Synergy query requests for appropriate personnelReview special education paperwork for accuracy and complianceMaintain current, accurate information to track special education student census Process, prepare and submit reports for district, state and federal requests regarding special education student census dataPerform general clerical tasks including telephone useRespond to inquiries, or direct to appropriate personnel, to provide information and/or directionParticipate in additional training in use of student database systems (Synergy)Regular and on-time attendance requiredPerform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitAssists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications: High School education or equivalentMinimum two years clerical experience Skills & Competencies: Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a GraduateDemonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and communityModerate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; above average test batteryComputer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc); proficiency in use of student database system (Synergy)Ability to operate standard office equipmentAbility to organize, prioritize, take initiative and meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions, change in assignments and minimum supervisionAbility to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with students, parents, district personnel at all levels and general public; to be tactful and diplomatic at all times; to maintain confidentialityAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents and district personnel at all levelsAbility to lift moderate to heavy boxes Work Environment & Physical Requirements: May be located within the main office, special education department, or district-level officeTypically follows standard school hours (e.g., 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), Monday through FridayFrequent interaction with special education teachers, administrators, parents, and district staffA high level of confidentiality is required due to handling sensitive student records (e.g., IEPs, psychological evaluations)Heavy use of computers, student information systems (SIS), electronic filing systems, printers, copiers, and possibly fax machinesOccasional lifting of boxes or files, generally under 25 pounds Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: Mesa Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
