Reconciliations Manager

About the role

Summus is seeking an experienced Reconciliations Manager to lead and enhance our enterprise-wide account reconciliation program across multiple operating companies. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for ensuring balance sheet integrity, strengthening financial controls, improving reconciliation governance, and supporting an accurate and efficient month-end close process. Reporting within the Corporate Accounting function, this individual will partner closely with the Assistant Corporate Controller, Controller, General Ledger Manager, and Reporting Manager to drive process improvements, standardization, and financial accuracy across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Account Reconciliation Leadership & Governance
    • Own and lead the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process across all FSC Group entities.
    • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide reconciliation policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Drive reconciliation governance and certification processes utilizing Trintech Adra or similar reconciliation management software.
    • Ensure timely completion, quality, and consistency of reconciliations across business units.
    • Review and approve high-risk, complex, and judgmental account reconciliations.
    • Maintain reconciliation risk rankings and establish appropriate review frequencies.
    • Develop reconciliation KPIs, scorecards, and reporting dashboards for Finance leadership.
    • Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Financial Controls & Balance Sheet Integrity
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of subledger-to-general ledger activity, including: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Intercompany Accounts, Cash & Bank Accounts.
    • Investigate and resolve aged reconciling items.
    • Support a strong internal control environment and financial governance framework.
    • Improve visibility into balance sheet performance and reconciliation health across the organization.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
    • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting leadership to improve financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
    • Drive process standardization and best-practice adoption across operating companies.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.
    • Support automation and operational excellence initiatives within the accounting function.

Qualifications

  • Required
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • CPA preferred.
    • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
    • Prior people leadership and team management experience.
    • Direct experience with Trintech Adra or comparable reconciliation management software.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Experience working within a multi-entity organization.
    • Strong knowledge of: Subledger-to-General Ledger integrations, Inventory valuation reconciliations, Intercompany accounting and eliminations, Accrual accounting, Month-end close processes, Internal controls and financial governance.
  • Preferred
    • Manufacturing, industrial, or distribution industry experience.
    • Experience supporting external audits and SOX-like control environments.
    • ERP system experience, preferably Infor M3.
    • Demonstrated success implementing reconciliation automation and process improvements.
    • Experience developing KPI reporting and management dashboards.
