Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Reconciliation Analyst to join a collaborative and mission-driven finance team. The Reconciliation Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records through account reconciliations, investigative research, and clear communication of findings to leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accounts Receivable & Bank Reconciliations (Approximately 60-70%): Perform detailed reconciliations of accounts receivable and bank statements. Investigate variances and identify discrepancies between financial records. Track down missing documentation and resolve outstanding items. Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and timely. Maintain organized records and supporting documentation.

  • Financial Investigation & Analysis (Approximately 20-25%): Conduct in-depth reviews of complex financial transactions and data. Research anomalies, inconsistencies, and historical account activity. Analyze messy or incomplete datasets to identify root causes of issues. Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information and resolve concerns.

  • Executive & Management Reporting (Approximately 10-15%): Prepare concise updates for management and executive leadership. Summarize findings from reconciliation and investigation efforts. Communicate key risks, trends, and follow-up actions clearly and professionally. Document recommendations and next steps.

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Maintain detailed documentation of findings and resolutions.

  • Develop clear summaries of investigative work.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and controls.

Core Competencies & Skills Required

  • Advanced account reconciliation experience.

  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve complex issues independently.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience preparing concise summaries for leadership audiences.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Data manipulation and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Experience within a nonprofit, fund management, or similar financial environment.

  • Comfort working with large, complex, or disorganized datasets.

  • Experience identifying process gaps and implementing solutions.
