Recertification Specialist

Overview

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring residents remain eligible for the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct annual recertification interviews to assess continued eligibility for the LIHTC program.
• Complete comprehensive income calculations based on family composition and adjust tenant records accordingly.
• Review and verify all required documentation during the recertification process to ensure compliance with program regulations.
• Maintain accurate tenant files and documentation, ensuring they are complete and up-to-date.
• Schedule and send reminders for upcoming recertifications to keep residents informed.
• Greet and welcome residents during recertification appointments and provide assistance as needed.
• Respond to queries and concerns related to the recertification process and provide guidance on required documentation.
• Act as a liaison between residents and the property management team, ensuring effective communication and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with the LIHTC/Tax Credit program required.
• Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as regulatory agreements and compliance regulations.
• Two years of Affordable Multi-Housing experience preferred.
• Certified Occupancy Specialist or similar certifications are highly desirable.
• Tax Credit certification is highly desirable.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Extensive computer knowledge, including Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), internet, and email.
• Working knowledge of Yardi Voyager Property Management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

• Travel within the region and to other business offices and events via airline, train, and automobile.
• Repetitive use of the computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.

• Occasional squatting, bending neck/waist, twisting neck/waist, pushing, and pulling.
