About the role

Receptionist position serving Medical, Dental, and Mental Health departments. Responsibilities include patient registration, appointment management, referrals, document completion, and medical chart retrieval and filing.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and greets patients; directs or escorts them to the appropriate area.
  • Answers, screens, and directs calls on a multi-line phone system; takes detailed messages and forwards calls to appropriate practitioner, voice mail, or pager.
  • Organizes and maintains file system; files correspondence and other records.
  • Orders and maintains supplies, arranges for equipment maintenance, and keeps reception area organized.
  • Inputs patient information and demographics into the computer system.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Adapts to constantly changing priorities with versatility and enthusiasm.
  • Communicates effectively with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Performs repetitive motion activities such as pulling Medical/Dental/Mental Health charts.
  • Processes patient registration and maintains patient flow to reduce waiting time.
  • Schedules appointments for patients and specialty care as needed.
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as filling out forms, answering telephones, or filing.
  • Collects co-payments, fees, and donations.
  • Handles billing for Medical/Dental/Mental Health services.
  • Inputs prescriptions and patient charts into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Uses Practice Management System (PMS) for registration, scheduling, and billing.
  • Handles other duties as requested by the Clinical Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred.
  • Experience with Practice Management System (PMS) preferred.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
