About the role
Receptionist position serving Medical, Dental, and Mental Health departments. Responsibilities include patient registration, appointment management, referrals, document completion, and medical chart retrieval and filing.
Responsibilities
- Meets and greets patients; directs or escorts them to the appropriate area.
- Answers, screens, and directs calls on a multi-line phone system; takes detailed messages and forwards calls to appropriate practitioner, voice mail, or pager.
- Organizes and maintains file system; files correspondence and other records.
- Orders and maintains supplies, arranges for equipment maintenance, and keeps reception area organized.
- Inputs patient information and demographics into the computer system.
- Demonstrates professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive issues.
- Adapts to constantly changing priorities with versatility and enthusiasm.
- Communicates effectively with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Performs repetitive motion activities such as pulling Medical/Dental/Mental Health charts.
- Processes patient registration and maintains patient flow to reduce waiting time.
- Schedules appointments for patients and specialty care as needed.
- Performs routine clerical duties such as filling out forms, answering telephones, or filing.
- Collects co-payments, fees, and donations.
- Handles billing for Medical/Dental/Mental Health services.
- Inputs prescriptions and patient charts into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Uses Practice Management System (PMS) for registration, scheduling, and billing.
- Handles other duties as requested by the Clinical Manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred.
- Experience with Practice Management System (PMS) preferred.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
