About the Role
The Front Desk Greeter serves as the first contact between the Hospital and the public at the visitor entrances. The Greeter provides visitors with information, assists with their needs while following Hospital policies, and works as a liaison between visitors and various departments to carry out requests.
Responsibilities
- Screen patients, visitors, and vendors for entry into the Hospital while ensuring compliance with Hospital policy.
- Direct visitors accurately and monitor/enforce changing visitation hours.
- Call hospital floors to gain permission for visitors to see a patient when outside policy parameters.
- Remain calm and attempt to de-escalate stressful situations.
- Work cooperatively with volunteers and light-duty employees at the front desks.
- Contact clergy as directed by departments seeking pastoral care for a patient.
- Act as a liaison between the public/vendors and Hospital departments to gather and distribute patient materials.
- Maintain a clean work environment and assist with hospitality and clerical duties to exceed patient and visitor expectations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
- On-the-job training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months’ experience in a customer service role.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
- Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
Schedule
- Scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
- Rotates all shifts, including 8-hour, 10-12 hour shifts, on-call, and overtime (+8 hrs/shift; 40 hrs/wk).
Work Environment
- Effective March 2020 or during a pandemic: goggles, face shield, and mask are required according to CDC guidelines.
- When lift requirement exceeds 50 lbs, lift assistance (2-person) and/or transfer device is required.
Physical Demands
Frequency definitions:
- Constantly: 5.5 to 8 hours or more or 200 reps/shift.
- Frequently: 2.5 to 5.5 hours or 32-200 reps/shift.
- Occasionally: 0.25 to 2.5 hours or 2-32 reps/shift.
- Rarely: Less than 0.25 hours or less than 2 reps/shift.
