About the role

This position is 100% onsite in El Segundo, California. The selected candidate will work primarily on the 2nd shift, with potential additional shift requirements to support program objectives. This is an hourly union-represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721). New hires and employees transferring from non-union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90-day probationary period.

This role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is required. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance post-start is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, models, and specifications to perform inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, multimeters, UV light sources, microscopes, precision scales, and digital cameras to verify dimensional, electrical, and workmanship requirements.
  • Performs detailed receiving inspections of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and subassemblies, including:
    • Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA)
    • Conformal coating and staking applications
    • Electro-mechanical assemblies
    • Wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including verification of routing, terminations, crimps, shielding, labeling, continuity, and workmanship
  • Reviews documentation requirements such as Certificate of Conformance, test, process, material, dimensional, and First Article Inspection reports.
  • Accurately documents inspection results, flags non-conformances, and works with quality and engineering teams on resolution.
  • Drives resolution of nonconforming material, ensuring timely Material Review Board (MRB) actions and cross-team coordination.
  • Accurately processes inspection results and material transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production) to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Assists in training quality and production personnel to ensure compliance with product quality standards and quality system requirements.
  • Ensures all measurement and testing equipment is properly calibrated and operates within established tolerances.
  • Identifies bottlenecks, process gaps, and selects continuous improvement projects to enhance quality and/or efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • More than 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance.
  • More than 3 years of experience in inspection.
  • More than 3 years of experience working with ESD, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610 standards.
  • More than 3 years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • More than 1 year of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems.
  • Capable of lifting 20 lbs or more on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to stand, reach, bend, or stoop to handle products for extended periods with only short breaks.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • More than 3 years of experience using electronic, dimensional, and physical test equipment.
  • More than 3 years of experience with hand tools such as calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gages, thread gages, and go/no-go gages.
  • More than 3 years of experience performing Material Review Board (MRB) product review.
  • More than 3 years of experience working with Non-conformance (NCR) processes.
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
  • Active IPC certification (610/620/600).

Pay

Pay is based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $29.42 - $47.09 per hour.
