Position Summary

Under the guidance of our Operations Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for moving steel throughout our service center.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Embrace the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines
  • Operate forklift and/or overhead cranes to transport material within service center in a safe and reliable manner from trucks, facility, etc.
  • Receive material into computer system
  • Move product to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stack and store in appropriate area
  • Maneuver material handling equipment safely and efficiently through limited space areas
  • Stock and rotate materials as necessary
  • Verify counts and product shipped and/or received
  • Stage material for sales and production orders
  • Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent, preferred

Licenses/Designations and Certifications

  • Licensed to operate a forklift and/or crane
