Receiving Manager Perishables
Key Responsibilities
- Implement industry “best practices” for receiving procedures and practices in coordination with other Operations areas
- Plan, organize, direct and coordinate daily staffing and workload to ensure delivery schedules are met
- Ensure supervisors are training, evaluating and monitoring new hires to determine satisfactory completion of probationary period as well as monitoring existing team member performance and SOP compliance expectations are met
- Oversee all supervisory reports, paperwork for current shift pertaining to receiver checks, production, attendance, completing first reports of injury and keeping track of temperature readings
- Manage unloading, receiving and warehouse handling of freight for accuracy, education to help minimize damage and follow proper trailer unloading procedures
- Monitor systems, key performance indicators (KPI), and safety to ensure accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and profitability, bringing matters of concern to the Operations Manager and General Manager
- Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions
- Schedule shifts in order to be efficient and productive with the intent to avoid overtime
- Monitor Emergency Contact list for team members and building conditions are up to date
- Understand the Emergency Procedures, ensure they are accessible and participate in update reviews
- Check computerized time/attendance on a daily basis to verify team members have the proper time clock punches in the system
- Ensure all team member forms for Time Adjustment, PTO requests, etc. are coordinated for staffing purposes and turned into HR timely for processing in the correct pay period
- Cook, manage and mentor supervisors, including but not limited to ensuring completion of daily responsibilities, such as observations and/or APT touchbases
- Promote our servant leadership culture and open communication for effective team member engagement and problem-solving
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience
- A high school diploma or GED
- College coursework, continuing technical education, or comparable business experience preferred
- Certifications in LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, etc. preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing/operations/warehouse environment to include knowledge of warehouse management software
- Knowledge of all receiving areas of operational paperwork, driver's bills, unloading and receiving procedures
- Experience operating Material Handling Equipment preferred

- Able to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without ability
- Able to utilize good hand-eye coordination and depth perception to operate forklift, reach truck, and HiLo safely and accurately
- Able to take directions using the headset selection system (such as VoCollect)
- Able to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays
- Able to Travel – approximately 10%
- Physical Demands/Equipment: Independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally
- Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a refrigerated warehouse environment
- Able to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as fall protection harnesses)
- Able to grasp, reach, push or pull (such as boxes of product, or a hand truck) on a frequent basis
- Able to step up onto and down from equipment as required by task (such as forklift, reach truck, etc.)
- Able to reach above shoulder level frequently
- Endurance for continuous, fast paced work
- Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit
- Able to work in a noisy warehouse environment
- Able to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods of time as required by location
- Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc.)
- Able to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)
- Able to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, forklift, reach truck, etc.)
