About the role

The Receiving Inspector Lead will ensure the accurate and efficient inspection of incoming materials and components, leading a team dedicated to upholding quality standards, identifying discrepancies, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Execute repetitive and routine inspections, visual checks, and functional tests applying sampling procedures of inbound material according to the defined Inspection Plan, utilizing inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and inspection jigs to verify compliance with drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Record inspection data and documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with Supplier Quality Technicians and Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure inspection activities comply with parts specifications and critical characteristics, completing assignments on time without direct oversight.
  • Ensure correct identification and segregation of non-conforming or discrepant material and support purges and internal screening activities.
  • Communicate with Buyers and Supplier Quality Engineers on quality or documentation issues, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Support improvement initiatives, participate in workplace enhancements (e.g., 6S), maintain certifications and training requirements, and train new Receiving Inspectors, including inspecting their work output.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma is required.
  • Three or more years of related experience is required; four or more years is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strict attention to detail and full understanding of applicable inspection procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and clearly describe nonconformance issues.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, various shifts, and weekends as required.
  • Experience with general materials equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, barcode scanners, and personal computers.
  • Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for long periods.
  • Ability to lift, reach, push, or pull up to 45 pounds.
  • Willingness to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Experience with inspection equipment such as height gauges, calipers, CMMs, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Stay current on processes, procedures, standards, policies, and training for the assigned job and operational area.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment with required PPE.
  • Facilities include comfortable temperatures, repetitive low noise levels, and suitable lighting for tasks.
  • Physical stamina with strong manual dexterity and fine motor control for precise measurement or delicate tool handling.
  • Acute near vision for visual inspections, including the use of magnifiers, cameras, and other vision systems.
  • Majority of time spent standing or sitting, with limited activities including lifting packages, moving material, and working around lifting equipment.
  • Repetitive computer tasks involving quality record creation, editing, and saving.

Travel Requirements

Less than 40% travel may be required.

Pay

The annual compensation range for this position is $48,500.00 - $72,700.00. The salary offered will be based on geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements, and skill level.
