About the Role
Under general supervision, the Receiving Clerk distributes either production or non-production items and materials to various locations throughout the plant. Materials may consist of purchased parts, in-process parts, or finished goods. This position is expected to perform a variety of tasks assigned in conjunction with the needs of materials, production, or other departments. Tasks will vary by work area and work assignments will change based on business demands. Routine job rotations will be required to support the Safety, Quality, and Productivity Objectives. The position is expected to perform the specified job duties within the allotted time, within the quality standards and prescribed methods.
This is an on-site role (5 days per week). This is a safety-sensitive role; the company designates certain roles as Safety Sensitive, and Safety Sensitive roles may require that you pass additional drug screening.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage the shipping and receiving process of a warehouse
- Schedule and coordinate deliveries, generate Purchase Orders, make payments
- Follow and adhere to all safety, quality, and Trane Technologies policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
- Actively contribute to Safety, Quality, and Productivity activities and improvements
- Maintain the work area for cleanliness, orderliness, and efficiency standards
- Rotate job duties, areas, and stations as needed for Safety, Quality, and Productivity
- Enter data in computer systems; fill in forms, charts, etc.
- Work independently and as a team member to identify, improve, troubleshoot, and take ownership for results of the machine or process the operator is assigned
Education, Experience & Skills
- High school diploma
- 18 years or older
- Attention to detail
- Experience as a material handler
- Experienced with computers and warehouse software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal company and external associates, both written and orally, including the telephone
- Mobility within the work facility
- Ability to stand 8+ hours
- Ability to bend, lift, reach, and turn throughout the shift
- Ability to distinguish colors (not color blind) due to need to determine temperature visually
- Visual acuity for aligning and determining proper alignment
- Ability to move freely and have sufficient reflexes to perform the same tasks repeatedly
- Ability to stand 8–10 hours daily
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly through the shift
- Breaks are formalized, scheduled, and regulated due to the interconnectivity of the assembly line
