Oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our retail cannabis store. Lead a team of budtenders and staff, maintain high standards of customer service, ensure compliance with state regulations, and help drive store performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate budtenders and other staff to provide exceptional customer service and meet sales targets.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment to ensure effective teamwork.
  • Support the hiring and training of new employees, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and well-stocked dispensary that provides an inviting shopping environment for customers.
  • Assign duties and tasks to staff to ensure smooth operation and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal cannabis laws and regulations, including verifying customers' age and proper documentation.
  • Monitor staff to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Perform compliance checks and audits as needed to maintain the dispensary’s license and reputation.
  • Maintain a positive, knowledgeable presence on the sales floor, assisting customers with product selections and resolving any concerns or issues.
  • Provide guidance to customers on cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and accessories.
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns in a professional, calm, and efficient manner.
  • Monitor stock levels, ensure accurate product counts, and coordinate with the inventory team to place orders as needed.
  • Track product expirations and perform regular inventory audits to ensure product availability and compliance.
  • Assist in managing and organizing the back-of-house inventory to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing development to ensure that all team members are knowledgeable about cannabis products, store policies, and company procedures.
  • Provide feedback and performance coaching to staff to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Handle cash registers, ensure proper handling of transactions, and conduct end-of-day reconciliations.
  • Oversee daily cash counts and deposits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and reported to management.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, staff performance, and customer feedback to upper management.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to store performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve performance, customer experience, and overall store efficiency.
  • Ensure the proper intake of all product deliveries, both cannabis and non-cannabis, following all required procedures.
  • Verify that the correct products and quantities are delivered, ensuring a smooth and accurate intake process.
  • Work with inventory and receiving teams to promptly and efficiently check in deliveries to avoid disruptions to daily operations.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and related accessories.
  • Familiarity with cannabis laws and regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of dispensary operations, including cash management, customer service, and inventory control.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback and performance coaching.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering a superior customer experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing inventory, cash handling, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to multitask and handle complex situations while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a customer service role in a retail or hospitality environment.
  • Minimum 21 years of age (or as required by state regulations).
  • A minimum of a High School diploma is required.
  • Intermediate-level math skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to solve and resolve problems in a calm, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Strong computer-based skills.
  • Dynamic interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Personal experience with cannabis.

Desired Skills

  • Analytical skills to assess data, facts, and figures.
  • Proven expertise and experience to accurately manage a register.
  • Experience training new hires in a previous job.
  • Experience as a “key holder” in a retail environment.
  • Knowledge of the state’s cannabis regulations.
  • 5+ years in retail.
