About the role

The Rebuild & Repair Technical Support Liaison provides high-level technical leadership and acts as the central coordination point between internal teams, strategic partners, and customers for all Rebuild & Repair operations. This role ensures clear communication, delivers accurate technical direction aligned with organizational quality standards, and drives the efficient execution of repair programs to uphold product reliability and customer satisfaction. In this capacity, the liaison oversees the full lifecycle of designated Astec products, including installation, commissioning, startup, training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to ensure optimal system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of project quality, operational performance, and budget adherence across all Rebuild & Repair initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers and rebuild facility leadership to ensure alignment and long-term partnership success.
  • Serve as the liaison for Rebuild & Repair facilities, ensuring clarity of technical requirements, timely issue resolution, and consistent progress monitoring.
  • Lead cross-functional training initiatives for contractors, labor teams, customers, and rebuild facility personnel to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Ensure reliable startup, commissioning, and operational integrity of all electrical, control, and mechanical systems, including sequencing, interlocking, and calibration.
  • Oversee advanced operator training programs for customer and facility staff, focusing on startup procedures, troubleshooting, and foundational electrical/mechanical competencies.
  • Partner with Functional Leadership, Product Support Managers, and administrative teams to ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and billing compliance.
  • Maintain 24/7 availability to provide urgent technical support whenever critical issues arise.
  • Direct the development and execution of work schedules for Rebuild & Repair facilities to optimize resource allocation.
  • Deliver high-level reporting on project milestones, operational challenges, and facility performance metrics to leadership.
  • Oversee and guide the installation of equipment and components, ensuring adherence to engineering and safety standards.
  • Provide high-level support in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues across all rebuild and repair sites.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED required; additional education or equivalent experience considered valuable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of all Astec equipment, including Shuttle Buggies, Mills, and Pavers.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic circuits, with the ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and electronic blueprints and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of circuitry, pneumatics, hydraulics, and power transmission systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively—domestically and internationally—on short notice.
  • Proficiency in using remote diagnostic tools to support on-site personnel with mechanical, electrical, controls, and operational challenges.
  • Credentials in basic arithmetic and computer applications, including Windows, Microsoft Office, Concur, and CMS Control Systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Hands-on technical skills including welding (stick and MIG), cutting torch operation, and steel fabrication/assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict constructively and resolve issues in a balanced, professional manner.
  • Comfortable working independently or within small teams, with a proven ability to remain productive with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across diverse personalities, including customers, vendors, colleagues, and leadership.

Work Environment

Manufacturing Environment: Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
