We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Victor, based in Bethesda, Maryland, with flexibility for other U.S. locations. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office.

About the role

Victor Insurance Managers Inc., a subsidiary of Marsh, is the world’s oldest and largest underwriting manager of specialty insurance, professional liability, and risk management programs. This role is part of the growing Real Estate E&O team, an established group of eight colleagues underwriting and servicing a high-volume portfolio for the real estate industry, including agents, brokers, property managers, commercial firms, appraisers, title agents, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Profitably manage an existing portfolio of renewal business and underwrite new opportunities daily.
  • Evaluate client’s exposure to loss based on established program eligibility.
  • Utilize underwriting platform to generate pricing and communicate terms to Victor brokers.
  • Negotiate final terms and position the Victor value proposition to brokers.
  • Engage with our carrier partner to develop bespoke coverages and determine pricing for complex risks.
  • Work with both in-house and outsourced support teams to service portfolio.
  • On a limited basis, attend industry trade shows and/or travel to meet with broker partners (2-3 trips annually).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of underwriting experience or transferable work experience.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and critical thinking demonstrated through work assignments.
  • P&C license required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Qualifications

  • Industry designations such as RPLU, CPCU, or ARM are a plus.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal colleagues, brokers, and carriers in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, make sound independent decisions, and manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $65,300 to $139,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
