About the role

This role will be based in Bethesda, Maryland, with flexibility for other U.S. locations. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Profitably manage an existing portfolio of renewal business and underwrite new opportunities daily.
  • Evaluate client's exposure to loss based on established program eligibility.
  • Utilize underwriting platform to generate pricing and communicate terms to Victor brokers.
  • Negotiate final terms and position the Victor value proposition to brokers.
  • Engage with our carrier partner to develop bespoke coverages and determine pricing for complex risks.
  • Work with both in-house and outsourced support teams to service portfolio.
  • On a limited basis attend industry trade shows and/or travel to meet with broker partners (2-3 trips annually).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of underwriting experience or transferable work experience.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and critical thinking demonstrated through work assignments.
  • P&C license required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Qualifications

  • Industry designations such as RPLU, CPCU, or ARM are a plus.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal colleagues, brokers, and carriers in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, make sound independent decisions, and manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $65,300 to $139,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.
