About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbia, MO. The Real Estate Loan Originator is responsible for originating residential real estate loans by meeting with members, assessing their needs, and recommending appropriate mortgage products. Day-to-day tasks include collecting and analyzing financial information, guiding applicants through the loan process, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of loan files.
The role involves collaborating with underwriting and processing teams, maintaining strong knowledge of lending policies and regulations, and building relationships with members, real estate professionals, and internal partners to support growth in mortgage lending.
Responsibilities
- Originate residential real estate loans by meeting with members and assessing their financial needs.
- Recommend appropriate mortgage products tailored to member goals.
- Collect and analyze financial information to determine creditworthiness.
- Guide applicants through the loan process, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with underwriting and processing teams to complete loan files accurately and on time.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending policies, regulations, and real estate market trends.
- Build and nurture relationships with members, real estate professionals, and internal partners.
- Support growth in mortgage lending through proactive engagement and member-focused service.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in loan origination and loans.
- Demonstrated expertise in mortgages and related real estate lending products.
- Solid understanding of finance principles relevant to consumer and real estate lending.
- Proficiency in underwriting concepts and experience working effectively with underwriting teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a member-focused mindset.
- Ability to analyze financial documents, assess creditworthiness, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience in mortgage lending or financial services; credit union experience is a plus.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Relevant coursework or degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
