Real Estate Counsel

About the role

Associate Real Estate Counsel sits within the Investment Team and reports directly to the executive who leads real estate legal and portfolio operations. Works alongside one other associate-level real estate attorney and partners closely with Deal Managers and the Closing Team.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee outside counsel through the full acquisition life cycle
• Own the closing calendar and keep acquisitions tracking to timely closings
• Design initial acquisition and loan structures
• Analyze diligence and risk issues (title, survey, zoning, environmental) and respond to outside counsel
• Participate in negotiations alongside outside counsel and internal stakeholders
• Perform final review of purchase and sale agreements, leases, and construction disbursement documents
• Support Deal Managers on early lease review, structuring, and general legal input
• Give final approval on settlement statements
• Contribute to process improvement work and lead internal training sessions

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• Four or more years of legal experience representing REIT clients, with real depth in net lease and sale-leaseback work
• Strong commercial real estate law foundation
• Strong written and verbal communication, high accuracy, ability to work independently

Pay

$200,000 - $400,000 per year
