About the role
The Houston office of McGuireWoods seeks an Associate to join its Public & Private Infrastructure & Real Estate Department. We are also open to this person sitting in our Dallas or Austin office.
Responsibilities
- Handle all sides of real estate transactions, including the acquisition, financing, planning, zoning, construction, leasing and sale of real estate.
- Represent tenants, landlords, lenders, syndicators, brokers, entrepreneurs, buyers, sellers, and individual and institutional investors.
- Represent Fortune 100 corporations and other businesses for which real estate is a major concern.
- Represent clients in matters across the United States and abroad.
- Participate in editorial summaries describing exceptional service from clients across the country.
- Participate in the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Law Firms list for Land Use & Zoning Law and Real Estate Law.
- Work with innovative technology platforms like Harvey AI to accelerate research, streamline document drafting, and enhance analytical work.
Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of law firm Real Estate & Land Use experience, preferably in a sophisticated national law firm environment.
- Expertise in real estate finance, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development, and other sophisticated commercial real estate transactions (both single asset and multi-asset).
- Experience on the real estate aspects of renewable and conventional energy project acquisition and development is nice to have.
- A strong academic record.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with client, business, and legal teams.
- Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms.
