What You Will Be Doing

• Carry out virtual one-on-one and small-group reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
• Analyze assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify comprehension and fluency deficits and modify instruction accordingly
• Adapt instruction across varied reading levels, including intervention for students with dyslexia and related reading disorders
• Maintain systematic monitoring of student progress and apply data to shape subsequent intervention strategies
• Facilitate structured motivation check-ins that build confidence, persistence, and personal ownership of learning gains

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Deliver large-format lecture classes based on a prescribed curriculum
• Adhere rigidly to intervention protocols without responding to individual student needs
• Serve as a passive supervisor for software-driven learning platforms
• Rely on superficial rewards rather than cultivating genuine student motivation and self-confidence

Reading Specialist Key Responsibilities

Produce measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension for students in grades 3–8 through individualized virtual intervention and motivational support that fosters enduring confidence.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a related field
• Reading intervention certification or equivalent state endorsement (e.g., Reading Specialist certification or equivalent)
• Training or certification in dyslexia intervention or structured literacy approaches
• At least 2 years of experience delivering one-on-one or small-group reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
• Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
• Able to interpret student progress data and use it to adjust instruction effectively
• Strong virtual communication and student engagement skills
