Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design - Principal Engineer
About the role
As a Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design – Principal Engineer, you will address heat removal from the reactor fuel and coolant flow in the reactor core under normal operation and accident conditions.
You will report to the Manager - FR and Thermal Hydraulic Design. This is a hybrid role located in Cranberry, PA. Relocation is available within the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform standard and non-standard Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic analysis work for US and international customers, following and understanding approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work.
- Analyses will support safe plant operation by determining design bases and limits that meet safety and regulatory criteria for plant, reactor core and fuel design; measure thermal margins; and evaluate risks to plant safety and fuel performance.
- Resolve and provide technical leadership for complex, emergent and industry issues, redesigns, model development and interface with our customers and other teams within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation.
- Resolve and provide technical leadership for special projects such as major programs, advanced plant designs, plant chemistry programs, development of new fuel products, including new cladding and fuel materials.
- Provide expertise and consultation to technical panels, reviews, committees, regulators, customers, and partners on multiple Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic related topics.
- Oversee the development, and analysis of complex technical products and processes.
- Lead engineering design and analyses and propose solutions to complex problems that are not well defined.
- Cookordination and integration of complex technical projects that encompass diverse teams; achieve established budget and schedule requirements, manage project risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical leadership for general code, procedure, and method development updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical or related Discipline.
- 7+ years of engineering experience.
- Reactor core Thermal Hydraulic related experience with familiarity in subchannel codes.
- Experience working with customers and regulatory personnel.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification.
Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $ 129,000 per year.
