Radiological Control Department
- Performs radiological surveys and monitors radiological conditions and work practices.
- Verifies that radiological instrumentation is functioning properly before use.
- Posts approved radiological signs to ensure proper identification of radiological work sites.
- Completes data collection problems of limited scope when established procedures exist.
- Follows established technical procedures for data collection and measurement.
- Participates in briefings concerning radiological conditions and requirements.
- Maintains records for radiological surveys and other job activities.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in field related to the position or High School diploma plus 2 years’ progressive related experience.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
- Fitted for and qualified for use with various respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.
- Able to participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
- Able to qualify within 6 months of start date to DOE Radiological Control Technician (RCT) standardized core training programs.
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles.
Work Location and Schedule
- Primary work location: Nevada National Security Site (65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule: 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
- Overtime may be required.
- May be requested to perform on-call work.
Other Requirements
- Pre-placement physical examination, including a drug screen, is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
- Must successfully complete a counterintelligence evaluation.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Pay
Hourly range for this position is: $25.33 - $38.00.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate's education and experience, and internal equity.
Schedule
Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
Overtime may be required.
May be requested to perform on-call work.
