RCS-Quality Expert

About the role

This position supports Revenue Cycle Services' (RCS) managers and directors in planning, coordinating quality departmental functions. The RCS-Quality Expert performs various quality reviews, provides feedback to operational team members and other departments, prepares and delivers training on identified topics, and assists in developing Standard Work for team members. The role tracks and trends day-to-day RCS operations related to quality improvement initiatives, reports recommendations to management to address issues, and assists in implementing accepted changes. Additionally, the incumbent conducts monthly in-service education programs to maintain RCS quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates commitment to IU Health’s mission, vision, and values by aligning behaviors and results with the organization’s strategic direction.
• Develops and performs ongoing quality reviews on operational team members to ensure quality performance standards are met.
• Conducts individual feedback sessions with team members to discuss quality review results and assists with follow-up reviews as needed.
• Prepares and submits formal quality reports to operational management on team members’ results.
• Assists with new team member on-boarding and training in preparation for transition to operations.
• Evaluates educational needs of team members based on findings, trends, or leadership requests.
• Develops and delivers training and education in varied formats (written, recorded, in-person, or via WebEx).
• Assists with the evaluation, coordination, and completion of internal and external quality reviews/audits within defined timeframes.
• Serves as a member of various committees/teams both internal and external to Revenue Cycle Services.
• Monitors departmental compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines, and rules, providing suggestions for improvement.
• Maintains expertise in relevant areas of responsibility (coding, status using/level of care, certification/authorization, chart completion, etc.).
• Communicates professionally, appropriately, and effectively via written and verbal methods with internal and external individuals/groups.
• Provides support for special projects as directed by leadership.
• Provides coverage in operational areas as needed to remain current on workflows and functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio, and Access).
• 3+ years of experience in revenue cycle operations in roles related to this position.
• High level of interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytic skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence and presentations to all organizational levels.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
• Ability to set and adjust priorities, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
