RCM Medical Billing Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Answering client calls and providing prompt returns and follow-up to all interactions.
• Promptly responding to requests for information, both internally and externally.
• Preparing charges for offshore operations and resolving questions.
• Completing chargers and resolving payment inquiries for off-shore vendors.
• Preparing, assigning, and reconciling batches; providing ongoing communication and reviewing discrepancy processes.
• Reviewing source codes, tallying hash totals, mapping ICD nine, CPT, and modifiers as needed.
• Creating claim edit reports for charge entries; reconciling imputed payment postings and balancing batch reports.
• Charging IHS, indicating any modifiers needed on CPT codes, notating codes for any handwritten DX, procedure, etc., returning charges to the Doctors' office if clarification is needed.
• Importing or entering charges and posting payments for clients not placed with IHS; working claim rejections for clients not with IHS and overseeing those worked by IHS.
• Auditing charge and payment batches completed by IHS to ensure all information is being entered accurately.
• Complying and enforcing all policies and procedures related to the position, the department, and the company.
• Achieving goals set forth by supervisor regarding error-free work, transactions, processes, and compliance requirements.
• Demographic, charge, and payment import posting (specific to our India-based team).

Qualifications

Strong customer service skills.

Knowledge of ICD nine, CPT, and modifiers.

Experience with charge entry and payment processing.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Understanding of healthcare billing and coding standards.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Basic knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Experience with batch processing and reconciliation.
